Around Abacoa
The hub of Abacoa's activity is its charming downtown area. It bustles with an array of restaurants, boutique shops, fitness studios, and businesses. Across the street is Roger Dean Stadium, which is home to four minor league baseball teams and is the spring training center of the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. Not only is it a baseball fan's delight, it also hosts a number of fun charity events, such as poker and kickball tournaments. The downtown area is not the only shopping district in the community. Along Military Trail are a number of shopping and business plazas, which offer a full range of healthcare, banking, and other services as well as a Publix grocery store. Florida is all about golf and Abacoa Golf Club has a place among the best public courses in the state. It boasts high-quality putting greens and elevation changes -- the latter being difficult to find in the area. For other athletic pursuits, the Abacoa Community Park does not disappoint. It contains tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts as well as four multi-purpose fields. There's also a skate park which includes two lighted rinks for roller hockey. Children living in Abacoa are a part of the School District of Palm Beach County. Two highly rated middle schools, Independence and Jupiter Middle School of Technology, are actually within the community's boundaries. Jupiter and Dwyer High Schools are just outside Abacoa's entrances. Younger children attend Lighthouse Elementary (K-2) and Beacon Cove Intermediate (3-5).
Abacoa's downtown and its nearby outdoor amphitheater are host to some of the community's most popular scheduled events. Residents enjoy monthly concerts, food truck meet-ups, and a number of holiday activities. Kids can enroll in a skateboard camp or youth roller hockey league at the skate park. The community also hosts a number of 5K runs for various local charities.
