If you enroll your kid at this school, you must enroll them in honors or AP classes. Regular classes are closer to day care than anything else
Overall, a mixed bag. Some teachers were very good, yet others weren't, which made for an inconsistent experience. The administration was invisible to us for most of the four years. even we we tried to engage them when we had questions, we were often met with roadblocks or, more consistently, a lack of response. That said, there were certain teachers and activities that will have a lasting, positive effect on her. But in the end, way to inconsistent for my liking. It barely makes a 3 rating for me.
I was a student at DMHS for my ninth grade year, and my overall experience I have to say was extremely disappointing. It was the same way in DCMS. When you're attending their middle school, the teachers always tell you everything gets much better in high school well let me tell you, that's a load of nonsense and they know it. My high school year was even worse than my middle school year. The teachers do not help you when you need it, when homework is given out most of the time you won't receive enough of an explanation on how to do it, thus leading to having to look up the answers via internet. I'm an LD student (Learning Disabilities) and have had many issues with the way they run their Special education program. If you ask fifty different students with LD qualities I'm almost one hundred percent sure they would tell you that the Special education program does not meet as many needs as it should. Students are ridiculed when they have an opinion the majority of the time, It's always "no you need to do it this way" or "no we can't have this or that". The dress code is outrages, girls running around in tight skirts and shorts, halter tops and crop tops breasts hanging out, you name it. Inappropriate behavior from students, even the staff. For example: In my third and sixth hour classes I had the same teacher, and I would always try and politely tell the teacher that I needed to do my work independently. Of course she didn't want to accept that, so she would practically hover over me through the entire period. Students bullying is out of control and needs to be addressed correctly, from what I could see daily, students were being made fun of, ignored, mean things were said the list goes on and on. If students are being bullied most of the time they feel as though they can't tell a teacher because the teacher wouldn't listen to them, or they would come up with some asinine explanation why they couldn't address it. One major thing I noticed as well, is that students that come from money, (which the majority of them do) considering this is Scottsdale we're talking about, would be able to buy their way out of bad situations. All in all my point being is that Students at this school will most likely suffer if they do not come from a wealthy home, or if they have some form of LD. I wouldn't recommend this school if my life was on the line, and that IS a promise.
Just missi ng thebmark in all areas. School spirit lacking. Academics not aggressive, dresscode is outofcontrol. Leaders are competent but missing a cohesive culture of leadership
