Balboa Island

This harborside neighborhood is simultaneously a residential haven and an iconic Newport Beach destination. Though the circumference of the man-made island is only 2.6 miles, the area is densely-packed with both charming cottages and impressive, newly-renovated homes. The perimeter of the neighborhood predominantly consists of public beaches and many of the waterfront homes connect to private docks. The Island is only accessible via a short bridge coming from the mainland or the Balboa Island Ferry coming from the Newport Peninsula, which means residents are accustomed to tolerating some congestion while getting on and off the Island during the summer months. Balboa Island boasts various shops, restaurants, and even its own firehouse along Marine Avenue, but most residents cross the bridge to run routine errands at nearby stores.
