5 Chicago Condo Buildings for Chance the Rapper While He Waits For Tribune Tower
Hours after news broke that the historic Tribune Tower along the Chicago River may be transformed into a condo tower, Chance the Rapper tweeted his interest in wanting a home in the iconic tower. According to the Chicago Tribune, early plans emerged for a high-rise condo building to take over the space behind the tower, while the neo-Gothic office building would be transformed into condos.
The development, which will be presented to the Chicago Plan Commission this summer, is still a ways off, so we thought we would help Chicago’s king of hip-hop by suggesting these other condo buildings in the city.
No. 9 Walton - Gold Coast

Located in the Gold Coast at State Street and Walton, No. 9 Walton is a 37-story condo building slated for delivery this spring. In August, news broke that the height of the building was being increased to include a private pool for the multi-million dollar penthouse, as well as make way for an additional 7,100 square feet of interior floor space. The building’s amenities include a house car and driver, dry cleaning service, indoor lap pool with spa-like features, a fully equipped fitness center, and private wine storage.
Vista Tower - Lakeshore East

Stretching a whopping 94 stories into the Chicago skyline, the Vista Tower in Lakeshore East at 375 E. Wacker Drive will deliver 406 luxury units. Designed by Jeanne Gang’s Studio Gang Architects, the team behind the Aqua tower, along with bKL Architecture, the building will be delivered in 2020. Units will have sprawling views of Lake Michigan and the John Hancock building. Prices start around $1 million for a unit in Vista, and the duplex penthouse will cost a whopping $18 million.
Renelle on the River - Streeterville

The 18-story building at 403 N. Wabash Ave. will offer 50 luxury condos ranging from $1.3 million to $3 million. Offering unmatched views of the Chicago River, Renelle on the River in Streeterville will have three- and four-bedroom units, as well as resident amenities like a private rooftop lounge, indoor and outdoor kitchens, a state-of-the-art fitness center, outdoor dog run, and game rooms. Units are expected to be finished with Wolf appliances in the kitchen, quartz countertops throughout, 10-foot ceilings, and expansive windows.
One Bennett Park - Streeterville

Expected to be the tallest strictly residential skyscraper in the city, One Bennett Park in Streeterville has been under construction since May 2016 and is set to be delivered by late 2018. At the start of the year, developers Related Midwest topped off the last beam on the 836-foot structure, according to Curbed Chicago. This ultra-luxury building will have 1.7 acres of green space, and its condos will run between $1.9 million and $15 million a unit.
900 West - West Loop
