Los Angeles is known throughout the world for its sunny weather, breathtaking sights, and prominent entertainment industry. However, being the second largest city in the country, what many people don't realize is that not all parts of L.A. were created equally. The city itself is vast with numerous neighborhoods sprawled throughout, which can be a bit overwhelming and confusing for newcomers planning to visit or move. To make things a bit easier, here are five of L.A.'s prettiest neighborhoods.

1. Pacific Palisades

This beautiful neighborhood is located between Brentwood, Santa Monica, and Topanga. What's great about the Pacific Palisades is that it's a perfect blend of both beach and mountainous activities, giving visitors several natural sightseeing options to choose from. However, not many tourists know about this hidden gem of a neighborhood and the people who frequent the area are mostly Angelinos. Not only are the streets safe and clean, the locals are also extremely proud of their neighborhood. While driving through the area, it is quite normal to see lush trees, dramatic mountains, and clear blue waves from all directions.

2. Marina Del Rey

Marina Del Rey is an ocean city flanked between Venice and Del Rey, it is a great area for those who enjoy watching boats cruise along the water. The buildings and restaurants in the area have modern architecture that complements Marina Del Rey’s pristine views. A popular park in Marina Del Rey is Burton Chace Park, which is visited by many locals for BBQs, water activities, picnicking, or simply enjoying the day. Although this area experiences high foot traffic, it is clear that the city makes an effort to maintain the neighborhood's beauty. The grass is lavish, green, and abundant, and the beaches are vast and spotless.

3. Bel Air

This famous residential neighborhood is located near Brentwood and Beverly Crest, across the street from UCLA. Although this community does have some cool sightseeing spots like the Bel-Air Country Club and the sitting pond at Bel-Air Hotel, what is appealing about this neighborhood are the locals. Some of the residents here include Hollywood’s most well-known personalities and many more of Los Angeles' finest. Aside from the people, Bel Air is also known for its grand mansions, which are elegant and captivating to visitors and locals alike -- leaving many people in awe.

4. Hollywood Hills

This serene and calming neighborhood is close to several hiking spots such as Griffith and Runyon Canyon. Although it is a private area with several narrow streets winding around the mountain, it is home to many prominent Los Angeles residents. While driving through the secluded roads in Hollywood Hills, you can see great views of the entire city. Hollywood Hills is equally pleasant at night when the stars are out and are sprinkled throughout a cloudless L.A. sky. Street and building lights throughout the city can also be seen twinkling in the distance, making the sights in Hollywood Hills very attractive to residents and hikers.

5. Downtown Los Angeles

Although there are definitely parts of Downtown that are a bit lacking, there are several spots that are quite beautiful. Located towards the eastside of Los Angeles, this neighborhood is home to many working professionals who enjoy frequenting rooftop bars, unique restaurants, and elaborate boutique shops. For those who prefer a more urban vibe, D.T.L.A. has landmark skyscraper buildings, modern condos, high-end lofts, and fancy hotel bars that set it apart from the rest of Los Angeles.
