$600M, 4-Tower Development Slated for Old Chicago Tribune Site
Riverfront land located at 700 W. Chicago Ave. will become the home of four new buildings, according to Curbed Chicago. The project has been in the works for a few years, but it has taken an important step forward. The project’s developers recently filed the zoning paperwork with the city.
Tribune Media and Riverside Investment & Development are heading up the River West development, which will include three office towers and one residential tower. Architecture firm Goettsch Partners is designing the project.
The project — dubbed the “Connected Campus” — is expected to cost $600 million, according to the report. The four buildings will be connected by a central plaza, which would have space for vehicle drop offs and food trucks. The development will also offer plenty of open space, including a river walk, accessible to the public.
The first phase of the project will be Office Tower 1, which will be 220-feet high and feature 435,000 square feet of office space, according to the report. This tower will also have outdoor terraces with a view of Chicago’s skyline.
