A new strip mall could come to a nine-acre vacant lot in North Mayfair, according to DNAinfo. The $60 million development could be funded in part by a new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district.

The strip mall project has been named the Edens Collection. The proposed TIF district would be called the Foster/Edens TIF. The TIF district would include 232 acres with borders including the Edens Expressway, the Chicago River, Pulaski Road, Foster Avenue, and Lawrence Avenue, according to the report.

The Foster/Edens TIF district has a redevelopment plan drafted by Laube Consulting Group. The plan has already been shared with the city’s Community Development Commission, according to the report. In order for the TIF district to be approved, it will need to be ultimately reviewed by the City Council.

The strip mall will feature 15 businesses.
