Developers are planning to build 690 new homes on the largest remaining tract of land in Miami-Dade County that is zoned for residential development, per CRE Sources.

The 181.4-acre, six-parcel site at 20898 Simeon Way was the former site of the California Golf Club, which was closed in 2007. San Simeon Lennar Inc., a subsidiary of Miami-based Lennar Corp. purchased the land earlier this month for $40 million from the Mazel Group, managed by Yehuda Backer of Brooklyn, New York. The Mazel Group acquired the land in 2014 for $19.1 million.

Plans for the site call for 690 homes in six neighborhoods, including 296 villas, 348 townhouses, and 46 single-family homes. Amenities include an 11.3-acre community park, a clubhouse, and a pool. Lennar filed a pre-application site plan with county officials in July.
