7 Bay Area Restaurants Now Have Three Michelin Stars, Most in the U.S.
The Michelin Guide has released its annual list of restaurants that received coveted star ratings and seven Bay Area eateries are winners, per Eater NY.
The newest restaurant in the Bay Area to be awarded three stars, the highly sought-after top rating, is Coi, Daniel Patterson’s fine-dining destination in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. The restaurant was previously awarded a two-star rating.
The upgrade given to Coi’s rating bumps the total number of three-star restaurants in the Bay Area to seven. Benu and Saison in SoMa, The French Laundry in Yountville, Manresa in Los Gatos, Quince in Jackson Square, and The Restaurant at Meadowood in St. Helena all maintained their previously held three-star ratings.
This officially makes San Francisco the nation’s fine-dining capital — at least in the eyes of Michelin. New York City is second in the nation with five three-star-rated restaurants.
There are only a little over 100 restaurants around the world with the three-star rating.
