The land owned by one of Dallas’ most famous wrestling families, including their former ranch, is the site of a new luxury housing development in Denton County.

Adkisson Ranch is taking shape close to their former property near Shady Shores. Homes will start at $500,000. The 82 half-acre lots will be complete and ready for move-in by summer 2018. Gallery Custom Homes and Megatel will be the two primary homebuilders for the project.

The homes will be located within the Denton ISD and the development is located adjacent to Stephens Elementary School and Myers Middle School.

The property is being developed by HSM Dalcon, Inc., a division of Henry S. Miller Company. The division specializes in land acquisition and single-family residential lot development.

The Adkisson family — better known as the Von Erichs — were once synonymous with Dallas’ wrestling scene. Fritz von Erich, the stage name for Jack Adkisson, was one of the leading wrestlers of the 1950s. He and his sons dominated regional wrestling until the early 90s. His family’s signature wrestling move was called the “Iron Claw.”

Adkisson and his family lived on a sprawling 140-acre ranch in Denton County. Jack Adkisson died in 1997 after dealing with a life of both fame and tragedy; three of his sons committed suicide before his death. His widow Doris died in 2013.
