After Years of Legal Battles, Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Condo Hotel Set to Open
Following a brief delay after Hurricane Irma, the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach condo hotel will open Oct. 10, according to The Real Deal.
Located at 551 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., the new property features 290 units comprised mainly of studios and one- to three-bedroom suites. It also features three penthouses.
All units have an upscale feel and include kitchens, marble bathtubs, and rainfall showers. Property amenities include a spa, heated pool, and 20,000-square-foot sky deck on the building’s sixth floor.
A spokeswoman for the condo hotel reported that daily room rates start at $339. Additionally, guests pay a resort fee of $35 per day that grants them Internet and phone access, a two-hour daily bicycle rental, discounted spa access, and an umbrella and two beach chairs.
The Quebec, Canada-based company Groupe Heafey paid more than $91 million for the unfinished development earlier this year, purchasing it from CFLB Partnership, LLC, based in Doral. The condo hotel’s opening marks the culmination of eight years of construction and legal battles.
Originally conceived as a Trump development to be called the Trump International Hotel, the building’s construction halted in 2009 after its developer ran out of funding. Donald Trump settled in all but two of many lawsuits against him surrounding the property, with plaintiffs trying to recover their deposit money. Two lawsuits went to trial, where both courts ruled in Trump’s favor in 2016. Trump also sued the developer.
