SmartAsset.com recently published its third annual list of the Best Cities for Beer Drinkers in the United States. Austin made the number five spot after not ranking at all on the 2016 list.

To compile their list, the financial technology website collected data on the 300 biggest cities in the nation and evaluated them based on Yelp scores, average beer prices, the number of microbreweries and brewpubs, and the number of bars. Their report showed that big craft beer cities are spread evenly across different regions of the country.

SmartAsset counted 38 breweries in Austin, which is approximately four breweries for every 100,000 residents. The average brewing company in Austin scores about 4.3 stars on Yelp. SmartAsset highlighted Live Oak Brewing Company, the oldest brewery in the city, and one of Austin’s most popular beer spots. Live Oak recently moved to a larger location in East Austin in 2016. It is known for its German-style and Czech-style beers.

Austin’s top three highest rated breweries on Yelp include Adelbert’s Brewery in North Austin, ATXcursions in Downtown Austin, and Draught House Pub & Brewery in Rosedale.
