A number of proposals have sought to transform the erstwhile Michael Reese Hospital in Bronzeville. In 2009, the city of Chicago hoped the location would a key part of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Just this spring, Imagine Development pitched a plan to bring condos, apartments, entertainment venues, a hotel, and more to the site.

We don’t know exactly what the final plan looks like yet but the city has finally picked a redevelopment team, according to DNAinfo.

The redevelopment of the 49-acre site will be led by Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, Draper & Kramer, and Farpoint Development. Skidmore Owings & Merrill will also be involved as an architectural consultant. McLaurin Development Partners and nonprofit Bronzeville Community Development Partnership will also be a part of the team.

The project will involve not only the old Michael Reese Hospital at 2900 S. Ellis Ave., but also a nearby 28-acre site, which shares an owner with McCormick Place.

The specifics of the plan have yet to be released, but the development team will likely bring homes, a hotel, retail space, commercial space, and more to Bronzeville.
