Located east of Houston and across the Burnett Bay, Baytown sits along coastal shores. With Trinity Bay to its south and Galveston Bay just a bit further away, Baytown residents have long enjoyed access to nearby beaches and marinas. For ocean lovers, this makes an attractive destination. In 2017, the Economic Development Foundation for the region announced that, as a result of ongoing growth, the city had secured new businesses, leading to the construction of new stores in the area. However, now it seems the city is about to see a new residential expansion.

Per the Houston Business Journal, Baytown is about to welcome a new master-planned community to the area. Developed by Friendswood Development Co., a local real estate developer, the new community is planned to launch in early 2019. Named Baytown Crossings, the community will encompass 514 acres of land at Garth and Wallisville roads. This will place the community in northern Baytown, toward the Highlands Reservoir and close to nearby outdoor destinations like Banana Bend Nature Preserve and Bear Lake. The new community will also be within a half hour of Downtown Houston, which will make it possible for locals to commute into the city without much of a hassle.

Plans for the community are still in the early stages, and builders still have not been announced for the new community. However, according to current plans noted by the Houston Business Journal, Baytown Crossings will eventually feature more than 1,400 homes. The average price of a home in the area will be slightly higher than in the rest of Houston but will remain relatively affordable, with homes prices as low as the $220,000s. These homes will sit across four neighborhoods: Wooster Crossing, Ashbel Crossing, Burnet Crossing, and Sterling Crossing.

Developers also plan to take advantage of the area’s natural Texas landscape. Construction will include greenbelt trails and neighborhood parks that provide for plenty of time in the Texas outdoors. The developers also plan to include several lakes across the community to beautify the area. Residents can either travel to the neighboring outdoor parks and lakes across Baytown or enjoying the outdoors from close to home.

Homebuyers choosing homes in Baytown Crossing will not only be close to Houston but have fairly fast access to nearby Baytown itself. This will put stores and restaurants within close driving distance. Residents will also be able to quickly make their way to Tabbs and Trinity Bay. With the numerous parks and marinas lining the coast, residents of Baytown Crossing will be able to enjoy seaside amenities without much difficulty.
