The former Marlborough House property in Miami Beach will be the site of a 90-unit, 17-story luxury condo building, per The Real Deal.

Brazilian billionaire José Isaac Peres, the founder of Multiplan Real Estate Asset Management, received approval from the Miami Beach Design Review Board for the project at 5775 Collins Ave. Under the plans, the 110-unit Marlborough House built in 1961 will be demolished.

The plans were controversial, with opponents saying the design would create a concrete wall that would interfere with the light and block ocean views. To mitigate concerns, Peres revised the design to include public beach access and a reduction in the building’s width. Under the new plans, the Arquitectonica-designed project will include a 15-foot-wide path featuring lampposts, benches, and landscaping, so the public can access the beach.
