Developer Moves Forward With 76-Story, $700M Residential Tower Plans in River North
JDL Development won the bid for a parcel of River North land owned by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Now, the developer has released its plans for the 90,000-square-foot site. JDL Development aims to build a luxury residential tower with 76 stories, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
JDL Development plans to spend approximately $700 million to make its vision a reality. The site, the former parking lot of Holy Name Cathedral, is located at State and Superior streets, according to the report.
The 76-story tower will be joined by a 45-story tower. Both towers will spring from a nine-story base. The base of the development will house retail space, a grocery store, restaurants, and more, according to the report. The towers will house 75 condos and 795 apartments. The condos, planned for the upper floors of the 76-story tower, are expected to have a base price of $2 million, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
The project will include other amenities like a rooftop deck, a fitness center, and more than 600 parking spaces.
JDL Development will need to obtain a zoning change from the city before moving forward. If the project is completed, the 76-story tower will be nearly as tall as the John Hancock Center, according to the report.
