Elysian Valley May Add 53 Live/Work Units Along LA River
The various projects to enrich the area around the Los Angeles River hinge on pedestrian access, beautifying the riverbank, and linking the two sides where possible. In many cases, however, there isn’t much to link to on either immediate side of the river. But that could be changing in Los Angeles’ Elysian Valley neighborhood.
As Curbed LA reported, Uncommon Developers have filed plans to build 53 live/work units right along the river, at 1901 Blake Ave. The spot is just a block from the Los Angeles River Greenway Trail.
The 53 units would be built within a proposed 54,000-square foot facility, which would also reserve 11 percent of units for low-income tenants. Right across the river from 1901 Blake Ave. is Taylor Yard, which is the home of a future park. There’s also a new bridge being built to link Taylor Yard directly to the Elysian Valley, aka Frogtown, side of the river.
Located right next to the Interstate 5 freeway and California Route 2, Elysian Valley provides easy access to some of LA County’s main thoroughfares. Just slightly north of Dodger Stadium, the area is also five miles from Downtown LA.
