Foothill Gold Line Phase Two Extension Station Images Revealed
After the Los Angeles Metro Board’s recent budget approval for the Gold Line extension to Claremont, we now see the first renderings of the new stations which would appear along the new tracks.
Urbanize.LA has the early images, depicting the new Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont, and Montclair stations. Many of the stops would include parking structures, as well as amenities for pedestrians and bikes utilizing the train. All are also situated near major freeways in the region.
The total cost for the project will be $1.4 billion, much of which will be funded by Measure M, which passed in November 2016. Metro handles the financial portion of the Los Angeles County side of the rail extension, while the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority will take on the San Bernardino County stretch.
Construction is set to begin in October 2017 with a completion goal of 2027.
The extension is being described as a safe transit alternative to the busy local freeways (Route 210 and Interstate 10) that offers a connection with Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line. The train would take about 40 minutes to travel from Montclair to Pasadena. While a trip from Montclair to Los Angeles would take an estimated hour and 15 minutes.
