If you just moved into a master-planned community in Las Vegas, it can be a daunting experience to think about meeting people in town. Although more than a few master-planned communities in Las Vegas have hit the top-selling list nationally, it’s more than just great design features that make a house into home. It can be difficult to meet friends when you first move to a new city, but when you move into a master-planned community, you gain more opportunities to meet your new neighbors.

When moving into a new master-planned community, it’s always a good idea to check out their website for events and follow them on social media. Luckily, these master-planned communities in Las Vegas make it easy for you to get to know your neighbors.

At the northernmost corner of Las Vegas, you’ll find Skye Canyon, which is a fragment of the larger area of Centennial Hills. Residents enjoy the 8,000-square-foot Skye Center, which has meeting and gathering areas, a bistro, a pool, a park with a splash pad, and covered patios. Residents can even get free WiFi in the center and have access to fireplaces and BBQ stations where it’s easy to mingle with residents. The park, which is situated next to the community center, also has a playing field, perfect for outdoor recreation and fun games. The community also has regular events like Chalktober Fest, an annual chalk art competition.

Summerlin

Situated near Red Rock Canyon with 22,500 acres in total, Summerlin is the oldest and largest master-planned community in Las Vegas, and its history goes back to 1952, when Howard Hughes purchased the land that later became Summerlin. The community has extensive community elements including nature trails and more than 230 parks. Summerlin has six community centers, nine golf courses, several innovative libraries, and a calendar of social events that includes free concerts, festivals, and farmers markets. Meeting people in Summerlin isn’t hard, just try attending some of the community classes or join Summerlin’s own marathon.

Cadence

A few minutes up the road from Lake Las Vegas is Cadence, a 2,200-acre master-planned community off Lake Mead Parkway. At completion, the community will have 13,250 homes, and currently has 450 acres of open space that includes a play area, free bike-share program, splash pad, pool, playground, and walking trails. Cadence is an up-and-coming community, and its annual Decadence Food Festival is beginning to make a splash in the community. The park also includes pickleball courts as the sport has gained popularity in the community, which also includes 55+ subdivisions. To meet people in this community, all you have to do is spend some time outdoors or explore the local businesses and national parks in the area.

The Lakes

The Lakes is a 300-home master-planned community situated on Lake Sahara, the community’s private lake. It’s easy to meet residents in this community because they all have something in common: They enjoy the lake lifestyle and can park their boats on Lake Sahara. Although this community is technically part of Summerlin, the area has a unique draw that separates it from the wider master-plan development. Since the neighborhood has its own shopping area called Town Center Plaza, it’s become a gathering area for the community, and it’s a great place to meet other residents.

Inspirada

Inspirada, which is on the southwest side of Henderson, is a happening community offering a large range of home styles and price points that make living in this community more dynamic. Amenities at Inspirada include 85 acres of parks and trails. The community also has two farmers markets and four yoga classes a month. Since many who live in this community are raising young families, events center around family-focused fun and children’s recreational activities like youth soccer leagues, movie nights, resident meetings, and food truck Fridays. The community also features real residents on their website, making it easy to engage with others in the community.

Spring Valley

On the west side of the Valley, you’ll find Spring Valley, where the libraries in the area offer a regular schedule of events, providing a great space to get to know your neighbors who want a deeper sense of community. This area of town is also near several community pools and food truck areas that offer a casual spot to meet other families in the summer. Taking a short drive to Red Rock is also a great idea, since many residents enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoor areas.
