Google's Sunnyvale Shopping Spree Tops $1 Billion
Google recently made a deal to buy $319 million worth of properties in Sunnyvale from Netapp. That transaction pushes the search giant’s shopping spree above the $1 billion mark. The new buildings add a combined 381,000 square feet to Google’s collection, according to a report by the East Bay Times.
The sold structures are located at 495 E. Java Drive, 475 E. Java Drive, and 1330 Geneva Drive, per SEC documents. Netapp will remain a tenant in one of the buildings for an extended period of time.
News of these recent purchases come shortly after the Mountain View-based Google purchased 45 Sunnyvale properties back in July for a combined total of $800 million. And they don’t seem to be done yet. The company’s keen interest in Sunnyvale’s Moffett Park means we’re likely to see even more sales on the horizon.
But Sunnyvale isn’t the only city in which Google has embarked on a buying spree. The corporation has purchased several properties in Downtown San Jose, where it aims to build a transit village near Diridon Station. Real estate prices have already skyrocketed due to Google’s purchase activity.
