Major League Soccer expansion club Los Angeles FC hasn’t taken the field yet, but the team is already grabbing eyeballs around Exposition Park (and beyond). Along with regular Instagram updates of the construction on Banc of California Stadium, LAFC also hosts a livestream for fans to check on real-time progress of the venue.

Banc of California Stadium is being built on the former site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena (right next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum), at a price tag of $350 million.

Though the Los Angeles Galaxy has been part of MLS since the league’s inception in 1996, that club plays down in Carson in the South Bay. Los Angeles previously had two teams from 2005 through 2014, when Club Deportivo Chivas USA shared the StubHub Center with the Galaxy. LA County will have two teams once again in 2018 when LAFC takes the field.

Banc of California Stadium is one of two major venues under construction in LA; the other being the Hollywood Park NFL Stadium in Inglewood, which will be home to the Chargers and Rams. That stadium was originally slated to open in 2019, however, record rain this past winter delayed it until 2020.

The Los Angeles Clippers are also looking into their own space in Inglewood, after sharing the Staples Center with the Lakers since that building opened in 1999.

 Along with the stadium in Exposition Park, LAFC will also be building a training facility on Cal State Los Angeles’s campus. That site will be 11 miles Northeast of the Banc of California Stadium location.
