Lemon Grove Hopes New Brewery Will Help Revitalize Downtown District
Lemon Grove has been working on ways to revitalize its downtown commercial district. In mid-October, 13 Point Brewing Company gave the city a big boost, announcing their very first brewery location near the city’s central trolley stop — Lemon Grove Depot.
Located at 8035 Broadway, the standalone property also includes a 30-space parking lot.
This was a win for not only Lemon Grove but for 13 Point as well. The brewery’s director of marketing Dylan Frank told the San Diego Reader, that Lemon Grove had always been considered, given San Diego’s beer geography. “If you look at a map of all the breweries, there’s a hole in the Lemon Grove/Spring Valley area,” Frank said. In its eagerness to host a brewery, Lemon Grove made the process so easy that Frank described the experience as “super awesome.”
Construction on the new downtown anchor spot began last week. The brewery is expected to open in the spring of 2018 or shortly after. Given the city’s citrus-based history, it stands to reason you can expect 13 Point to have a shandy or two on tap.
