Lincoln Heights Metro Station Getting Streetscape Designs for Pedestrians
A new design project is working its way to Lincoln Heights and Cypress Park in hopes of making the neighborhoods more pedestrian-friendly around the Lincoln/Cypress Gold Line stations. The project name is Go Ave 26 and it was proposed by the urban design nonprofit group LA Más.
The streetscape project organizers plan to add some color to the sidewalks, creating a fun experience for both public transit riders and passersby.
The Designs Include:
- A small public park space with shade and seating
- Painted white murals underneath freeway tunnels
- Improved signs to better direct Metro riders
- Bright patterned sidewalks and wrapped utility poles to separate pedestrian areas
These eye-catching designs are meant to entertain and signal commuters who use public transportation as a primary form of travel. Go Ave 26 has partnered with TransitCenter, Caltrans, the Metro, the City of Los Angeles, LA Walks, Investing In Place, and the LA County Bicycle Coalition.
The temporary designs will be displayed until November, but the nonprofit may keep them up for longer.
