Multiple Chicago publications are reporting that the Lincoln Park home that appears during the credits of the series “Family Matters” is slated for the wrecking ball. DNAInfo reports the city approved a demolition permit Tuesday.

Although the show — featuring the iconic character Steve Urkel — was set in the Chicago suburbs, the house at 1516 W. Wrightwood Ave. appears in the opening credits and in establishing shots.

The city approved a permit to “wreck and remove a two-story frame multi-unit residence" after approving a separate permit to demolish its attached garage.

The broker, Coldwell Banker's Lissa Weinstein, told DNAinfo that “renovating the home wasn't a viable option” and that the owners “plan to decorate the entry with framed photographs of the original house.”
