The Congress Theater, located on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, is both a Chicago landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places, but the theater has been closed since 2013, the Chicago Tribune reports. That will soon change. An investment group is planning a $65 million renovation of the historic building.

The investment group, the New Congress, is eyeing 2019 for completion of the renovation. The theater’s overhaul will be funded by a combination of private equity, bank debt, and historic tax credits, according to the report.

The Congress dates back to the 1920s and the renovations will retain much of the building’s original charm, including the grand lobby. The project will add 14 apartments and an inn with 32 rooms, according to the report. The theater will also once again host live music.
