Major Mixed-Use Development Pitched for Fulton Market
A pair of developers is hoping to bring a 1.2 million-square-foot mixed development to the 1200 block of West Fulton Street in Fulton Market, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The development would feature a 60-room hotel, as well as retail space and approximately 900,000 square feet of office space.
IBT Group and Lamb Properties are the developers behind the project. S9 Architecture designed the proposed 24-story building, according to the report.
The project has yet to get zoning approval, but it is already generating buzz as a potential home for Amazon’s second headquarters, according to the report. Fulton Market was one of the 10 sites included in Illinois and Chicago’s official bid for the e-commerce company’s HQ2 campus.
"We hope that this will be a real gathering point for all of the Fulton Market district," said Andy Bluhm, chief executive of Lamb Properties, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
