McDonald's Chicago Move Creates Questions for Oak Brook Campus
Last year, McDonald’s announced plans to pull up stakes in Oak Brook and move its corporate headquarters to the West Loop/Fulton Market District area in Chicago. The fast food giant will be leaving behind approximately 100 acres of land and five buildings. That begs the question, what will become of the sprawling campus?

McDonald’s has yet to sell its Oak Brook property, but the location next to Oakbrook Center Mall — one of the strongest malls in the Midwest, the article notes — and the highway makes it a desirable spot for a “statement” development. Inland Real Estate Group has already expressed interest in buying the property, according to the story.
The McDonald’s campus, which already includes office buildings, could pave the way for more office space. But, there is also speculation that the property will be repurposed into apartments, condos, and retail, as well.
Brokerage Jones Lang LaSalle is charged with selling the Oak Brook property. Currently, the brokerage is marketing it to single buyers rather than breaking it up into pieces that could be sold separately.
