Moving to Rampart Village? Here's What You Need to Know
Rampart Village is a neighborhood in Los Angeles attracting more homebuyers thanks to its convenient location and its overall affordability—even now. This neighborhood sits adjacent to Silver Lake, Koreatown, East Hollywood, and Westlake, and it’s filled with shopping venues, local businesses, casual restaurants, and residential areas.
Compared to the rest of Los Angeles, this small community is still relatively untouched by major developers, so many homes in the area tend to be older structures or modest single-family homes. However, with the development boom that seems to be taking over all of Los Angeles, Rampart Village will likely change over the next few years. Just earlier this year, the neighborhood’s first hipster coffeeshop had its opening along Beverly Boulevard, putting the cozy district on the map and catching the attention of other businesses.
Here’s what you need to know about moving to Rampart Village.

Although there aren’t too many shops within a comfortable walking distance of each other in Rampart Village, the neighborhood sits right below the trendy Silver Lake district and slightly north of the cultural hub of Koreatown. Residents in this neighborhood are a five-minute drive from the amenities available in these neighboring communities.
At the same time, they’re also a 10-minute drive from the exciting nightlife in both Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles as well as a 15-minute drive from the recreational activities at Griffith. However, the downside to being close to many of these popular neighborhoods is the traffic congestion during peak commute times.
Variety of Homes
Homes situated in Rampart Village come in a wide range of styles, home prices, and sizes—from attached townhomes and lofts to single-family homes. According to neighborhoods.com, the current price range for inventory in this neighborhood is between the low $300s and the low $2 millions, which is a very large range for Los Angeles.
While this neighborhood features some of the city’s most affordable properties, it also showcases more expensive and contemporary-style homes. Homebuyers can find the bulk of reasonably priced for-sale homes along South Virgil Avenue.

Drivers have easy freeway access in Rampart Village, which is located right next to the 101 freeway. For those who want to leave their car at home, there are also several transit options in Rampart Village, including the local bus routes and the Metro. There are several bus stations along the neighborhood’s major street, Beverly Boulevard, where patrons can access the local 14, 16, 17, and 10 bus routes, while the closest Metro station is at Vermont and Beverly.
Site of Tommy’s Hamburger
While many hamburger joints might claim otherwise, Rampart Village is the site of Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers, which was the birthplace of chili burgers. Simply head towards the intersection of Beverly and Rampart Boulevards, and you’ll see a quaint little stand with a long line trickling onto the street.
If you have time, grab yourself a signature chili burger to experience all the hype. Today, there are more than 20 different Tommy’s Hamburger stands scattered throughout California and even Nevada.
Great for Pet Lovers
With several well-kept pockets of residential streets, two neighborhood animal hospitals, a doggy cafe, and a dog park nearby, Rampart Village is a great neighborhood for those who own pets. Like many other residential dwellings in Los Angeles, be sure to check if your home allows pets. If you’re indeed living in a pet-friendly residence, smaller streets such as Commonwealth Avenue, Robinson, Dillon, and Vendome streets are great for walking your furry friends.
Some residents in the neighborhood go to Beverly Virgil Animal Hospital, which is in the heart of the neighborhood, for their veterinary needs. Residents can also drive to nearby Silver Lake Dog Park for some doggy socializing.
Lots of Dive Bars
Like many of Rampart Village’s surrounding neighborhoods, there are a slew of diverse dive bars throughout the community. While many of the area’s popular bars—such as Crawford’s, Genever, and Bootleg Bar & Theater—are more well-known on Yelp, most of the watering holes in Rampart Village are still relatively unknown. Simply walk along Beverly Boulevard or 3rd Street, and you’ll be sure to find a multitude of laidback local bars.
