New BART Station Arriving Early in Milpitas, CA This December
Santa Clara County city Milpitas is expected to receive a new way in and out of town by the end of the year.
Per the Mercury News, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) announced that the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension project will be completed six months ahead of schedule, which means it should now open in December 2017.

The $2.3 billion project will span 10 miles long and is expected to start testing trains this summer.
According to VTA spokeswoman Stacey Ross, the station is “96.5 percent complete.” The BART station will be located at the corner of Montague Expressway and East Capitol Avenue and will feature skylights, indoor bike storage, and a parking garage.
The parking garage, which will be able to hold 1,200 cars, will also include 24 electric vehicle spots with the possibility of adding on 96 more in the future. There will also be a plaza area on the south side of the parking garage, adding nearly 6,000 square feet of retail space as well as accommodations for up to 10 food trucks.
