New National Soccer Hall of Fame to Be Built in Frisco
Soccer hasn’t traditionally been a popular sport in the U.S. But that has been changing in recent years — especially in Texas. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the U.S Soccer Federation and FC Dallas plan to build a new Hall of Fame next year in Frisco.
The new National Soccer Hall of Fame will open on Oct. 20, 2018, at the FC Dallas facility. Construction is currently underway to make improvements to Toyota Stadium.
FC Dallas will help drum up interest in the Hall of Fame by introducing visitors to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Club, which will open in July 2018. Among the upgrades to the facility include new locker rooms, technologically advanced media rooms, and a new 1,300 square foot patio
The National Soccer Hall of Fame is only one of the new attractions coming to FC Dallas next year. The Hunt family is upgrading the 11-year-old stadium to include spaces to improve and enhance the experience for fans. They will also be creating a “super suite” where corporations can host parties.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, soccer is increasing in popularity among younger sports fans. The more affordable ticket prices and international fanbase are leading to more dedicated soccer fans. Millennials and teens between ages 12-17 rank professional soccer as their second favorite sport; the first is NFL football.
