Once Asking $4.2M, Hillsborough's Flintstone House Now Listed for $3.2M
When architect William Nicholson designed and built the home at 45 Berryessa Way in Hillsborough, CA in 1976, he probably had a name in mind that spoke to the way it stood as an experimentation in new materials and dome forms.
However, the place kinda looks like the home from The Flintstones, so, it became The Flintstone House. Sorry, William.
Over the years the property fell into disrepair but a series of renovations, most recently by architect Eugene Tsui, not only brought the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house back up to code but also instilled it with some unique interiors, including a mixed-material kitchen that’s as much a piece of art as a place to make food. Other notable rooms include the game room and “conversation pit.”
The orange-and-purple residence hit the market back in September 2015 for $4.2 million but there haven’t been any takers. So, the price has come down to just under $3.2 million. Will that be the magic price? It certainly fits with Hillsborough’s reputation as one of the wealthiest communities in America. The question is whether or not those buyers want to invest a home named for a stone age family over some of the modern choices nearby.
