Plans for Logan Square Boutique Hotel Move Forward
The former Grace’s Furniture building located at 2618 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square has been the subject of a prolonged legal battle. Now, the building is likely going to be converted into a boutique hotel, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Developers Marc Realty and LG Development are working with Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th Ward) to bring the project to fruition, according to the report. Holiday Jones, a hotel operator, is also involved in the project.
The plans call for 44 hotel room, a ground-floor restaurant, and a rooftop restaurant.
“This is a great location for a hotel. People coming from O’Hare (International Airport) can get on the Blue Line and take it right to the hotel, where they can walk to all the activities that Logan Square has to offer,” said Ramirez- Rosa, according to the report.
The developers are currently seeking zoning approval for the project.
The vacant building was long at the center of a legal battle between the City of Chicago and VisualCast. VisualCast owns billboard displayed on the side of the building. The company sued the city after Chicago banned the billboards in 2013. The city won the lawsuit last year, according to the report.
