Sky-High San Francisco Penthouse Asking Record-Breaking $42 Million
When completed, 181 Fremont will be the tallest mixed-use building in San Francisco and the tallest in the Western United States, at least until Salesforce Tower is completed. Atop 34 floors of office space will be 55 luxury condos and 12 “accessory residential suites.” Atop all of that is a 6,941 square-foot penthouse that will be the highest residence west of the Mississippi River. Those bragging rights command a hefty price and that hefty price could end up making it the most expensive condo ever sold in San Francisco.
The current record is a Pacific Heights penthouse that sold for $31.8 million in 2015. The asking price for the five-bedroom, six-bath penthouse in 181 Fremont? $42 million.
The tower and penthouse are still under construction but, if the features and details are any indication, they’re going to try to earn that price tag. Taking up the entire floor, the unit will have 360-degree views of the city. A two-sided limestone fireplace will be the central point surrounded by the living room, library, private elevator lobby, and butler’s pantry. The materials used to design the residence come from France, Italy, and even New Guinea. It’s expected to be completed in 2018.
Living in this building comes with perks as well. The 52nd floor alone will be an entire floor of amenities, including a fitness center, two lounges, library, kitchen, conference room, and wraparound observation terrace. Residents also have access to concierge services any time of the day.
Between now and then, we’ll probably find out if it ends up as San Francisco’s most expensive condo ever.
