Sprawling La Crescenta Compound Featuring Two Homes Asks $4.5 Million
One large parcel in La Cresenta is currently on the market. As Curbed LA spotted, the 5.71-acre estate in the far north portion of Glendale is looking for $5.71 million. It features two distinct homes — a 1,350 square-foot 1950s residence, as well as a modern 3,100 square foot home completed in 2009.
The 1950s residence was designed by Richard Neutra and features two bedrooms and one bathroom, plus a fireplace. Original owners Dorothy Serulnic and her husband lived there until 1997 when they sold to Lari Pittman and Roy Dowell, who commissioned the second home on the property.
Architect Michael Maltzan finished that project in 2009, comprised of a seven-sided structure with one bedroom, one and a half baths, and an interior courtyard. The home was originally listed for $7.9 million in 2014, but that price has nearly been halved now.
The gated property also features a cactus garden, which includes hundreds of cacti of different varieties.
At 3947 Markridge Road, it’s situated right next to Glendale’s Deukmejian Wilderness Park and is a short drive from Foothill Boulevard and the US Interstate 210 freeway as well.
