The Mega Mall, a Fixture in Chicago's Logan Square, Demolished After 20 Years
DNAInfo reports that the Mega Mall, a fixture in the Logan Square neighborhood, has finally been demolished, leaving a gaping hole where the mall used to be and making way for a massive redevelopment project to begin.
The demolition makes way for the $100 million mixed-use project called Logan’s Crossing. The new development will include 240 apartments, a Jewel-Osco store, and an XSport Fitness.
Sitting on Milwaukee Avenue amid a once-thriving auto district, the Mega Mall was a flea market in its heyday, selling a variety of inexpensive items. The rundown market was slapped with more than 100 building code violations during its 20-year period, also suffering a fire in 2007.
