These Las Vegas Neighborhoods Have The Best Middle and Elementary Schools
Clark County School District (CCSD) is a notably large district that covers far more than just the Las Vegas Valley and serves over 325,000 students. Because the county wasn’t quite so populated when the school district was assembled, the sheer volume of CCSD is unusual, and now it’s the most diverse school district in Nevada. In a state that has nearly 700 schools, it’s not surprising that the Las Vegas Valley and the surrounding area has nearly 400 of those schools. Although the district itself doesn’t rank high in every regard, it’s still home to several high-quality schools. Private and charter schools also abound in the Valley, giving parents more schooling for their children.
Niche ranked the best elementary and middle schools in Clark County, but these rankings don’t indicate where they are in the Valley. Here are several neighborhoods in Las Vegas with the best middle and elementary schools.
Henderson
Niche ranks Somerset Academy of Las Vegas the best public elementary and middle school school in Nevada. Coral Academy of Science also ranks high as a charter school, but both of these schools have multiple locations throughout town.
With strong safety ratings and diversity, Greenspun Junior High School in Henderson is also good for families.
Anthem
In nearby Anthem, Shirley and Bill Wallin Elementary School received an A- overall for its teachers, academics, and diversity, along with smaller class sizes that exactly match the national average.
Frank S. Lamping Elementary School also has a lower ratio of students to teachers because of its smaller student population.
Just down the street is Del E. Webb Middle School, which ranks in the top 15 middle schools in the entire Valley—a significant accomplishment in a school district of this size.
Green Valley Ranch
Green Valley Ranch may technically be part of Henderson, but it has a distinct neighborhood vibe that makes it an enclave of its own. Near The District at Green Valley Ranch are two elementary schools on the very same street, bridged by the ironic Dos Escuelas Park, which translates to “two schools.” These schools are Neil C. Twitchell Elementary School and John Vanderburg Elementary School, both of which benefit from smaller class sizes.
For kids who attend these elementary schools, the next step in their education is Bob Miller Middle School, which receives a nod because 71 percent of students receive high marks on reading proficiency exams.
Summerlin
In Summerlin, Lucille S. Rogers Elementary School ranks in the top 10 Most Diverse Public Elementary Schools in Nevada, a note-worthy achievement for a school district with 336 schools and state with almost 700. John W. Bonner Elementary School has near equal proficiency in reading and math, a significant milestone for the students of this school. Meanwhile, Sig Rogich Middle School is in the top 15 best public middle schools in Nevada.
One private school that has a notably high ranking from Niche is The Adelson Educational Campus, a K-12 private school that has top-notch teachers, academic programs, clubs, and sports. It’s the ideal place to be for college preparation, where the student-to-teacher ratio is only 10 to one.
Centennial Hills
Centennial Hills has just one of several of Coral Academy of Science, a high ranking school in the Valley. Another great school is Imagine Schools at Mountain View, which ranks high for parents. It’s in the top five charter schools in Nevada, and the school has a far smaller student population than schools in CCSD. Another option for young students is William and Mary Scherkenbach Elementary, which made it into the top 100 best elementary schools in Nevada.
