Las Vegas locals have it good. Not only do they reside in one of the most exciting cities in the world, but they live in a city where the weather is pretty nice, pretty often. While many towns are still covered in snow in April, it’s already warming up here, and the city is gearing up for the even warmer weather in the summer months. Whether you want to get out and enjoy the sun or hide from it, there are all kinds of ways to enjoy the summer in this city. Here are some fun summer activities in Las Vegas.

Go to a Festival

There are a lot of festivals that roll through Vegas during the warmer months, so no matter which neighborhood you’re in, you should be able to catch one.

Electric Daisy Carnival is at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in North Las Vegas. The Great American Foodie Fest is at Sunset Station Hotel and Casino in Henderson. Life is Beautiful will take over Downtown, and the Pure Aloha Festival will be just south of The Strip at the Silverton Hotel and Casino. Just to mention a few of the many festivals in the city during the warmer months.

Hang Out Poolside

There’s something for everyone if you wanna get wet this summer.

There are a variety of European or “topless” pools for anyone looking for a sexy vibe. Moorea Beach Club, Marquee Dayclub, Bare Pool, and Venus are a few on The Strip. Sapphire Pool and Dayclub, and Naked Pool at the Artisan are just west of The Strip in the Spring Valley neighborhood.

There are a ton of rowdy, 21+ party pools in the city including Rehab Beach Club at the Hard Rock, in Paradise, Nevada. Also, Wet Republic at MGM and Drais Beachclub at the Cromwell Hotel are both on The Strip.

Family-friendly pools include The Tank at Golden Nugget in Downtown, where guests can enjoy the 200,000 shark tank aquarium. Excalibur Hotel and Casino and Circus Circus are both family-friendly pools on The Strip. And the two water parks in the Vegas valley are also family-friendly: Wet’n’Wild is on the southwest edge of Spring Valley, and Cowabunga Bay is east of The Strip in Henderson.

Enjoy an Outdoor Concert

Who says that you can’t have fun in Vegas for free? The Downtown Rocks summer concert series is free for all, and the quality of performers is top notch. 2018 performers include Billy Ray Cyrus, The Cult, and Everclear. This concert series is at Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas.

Ever wanted to see a concert on the beach? You can all summer long on The Strip at Mandalay Bay. Their concert series, out by their beach and pool area, will feature artists like J Balvin and Dirty Heads.

For poker fans, the biggest poker event in the world is in your backyard, but you probably already knew that. The World Series of Poker is a massive poker tournament that begins in May and continues through July. Thousands of poker players, from amateurs to pros, come together for a variety of events including the $100,000 High Roller no-limit hold ’em. The WSOP is at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in the Spring Valley neighborhood.

There’s a variety of sports to keep locals and tourists busy throughout the summer months.

The NBA Summer League is an excellent way for basketball fans to see some of their favs, new free agents, and rookies play all in one location. The NBA Summer League games are played at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Paradise, Nevada. There will be many chances to see gamers as this is the first year all of the league’s games will be in Vegas.

This year will also be the inaugural year for the city’s newest sports team, the Las Vegas Aces. The WNBA season kicks off in May, and the Aces have their first home game on May 27. They will play all home games on The Strip at Mandalay Bay.

The Las Vegas 51s also play all summer long, and their home games are at Cashman Field, in the Downtown area.

There’s more than EDC at the Motor Speedway in North Las Vegas. The racing track has racing events all summer long. One of the biggest being the NASCAR weekend in September as the summer comes to a close.

Watch a Movie Outdoors

If you wanna try something unique during the summer, consider going to the pool at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on The Strip, to watch a movie. They have their “Dive-in Movies” every Monday evening from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Guests can sit poolside and watch movies, enjoy movie-themed drinks, and hang out in the pool.

A traditional drive-in theater is also a great idea during the warmer months. The West Wind Las Vegas, located in North Las Vegas, has reasonable prices for great family fun or a date night.

Or Stay Indoors

Some days the heat can be too much, so indoor—and air-conditioned—activities may be more appealing. There are a ton of great museums downtown including the Mob Museum, the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, or the Hollywood Cars Museum just west of The Strip along the 15 freeway. Other fun air-conditioned activities on The Strip include visiting Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay or experiencing the High Roller Observation Wheel at The Linq.
