As stores like Mariano’s and Whole Foods continue to leave their mark on Chicago, Treasure Island is aiming to amp up its presence in the city with a new location in Uptown. Coined as “America’s Most European Supermarket,” Treasure Island currently has seven locations, making Uptown No. 8.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the planned 32,000-square-foot store will amp its offerings to include a full bar, a “produce butcher” to peel, slice, and dice fruits and vegetables, and online ordering services. This is the first Chicago location since 2009.

Slated to open summer 2018, the Uptown Treasure Island will be located at the corner of Montrose and Clarendon avenues.

Oct. 2 also marked the first day of a two-week grand re-opening celebration for the Treasure Island store in Streeterville. The remodeled store at 680 N. Lake Shore Drive expanded their offerings to include more convenient items like freshly prepared foods like a made-to-order fresh pasta bar, fresh pressed juices, and a full coffee bar.

Other Chicago-based locations are expected to see improvements and remodeling in the coming years.

The Uptown neighborhood continues to attract more young professionals, making the north side neighborhood a prime spot for a new location. The neighborhood has struggled in the past with disinvestment and poverty.
