What to Know About Streeterville's One Bennett Park Tower Condo Development
One Bennett Park is an ultra-luxury condo building going up in Streeterville. The tower just finished placing its last beam, according to Curbed Chicago. Here are four things to know about the new development.
Chicago’s New Tallest Residential Building
The 70-story One Bennett Park reaches a height of 836 feet, which makes it the tallest purely residential building in the city, according to the Curbed Chicago report. Construction began last year on the project led by developer Related Midwest and designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The tower is also the tallest building to rise in Streeterville since 2009, according to the report.
Just 69 Condos
One Bennett Park will feature just 69 condo units, according to Chicago Magazine. The price range for the condos varies from $2 million for a two-bedroom unit to $15 million for a four-bedroom unit, and condos range in size from 1,737 square feet to 7,500 square feet. The best views of Lake Michigan and the city will be found from condos located on floors 41 through 66.
The building will also feature 279 rental apartments, which will be available for tenants later this year. The condos are expected to be ready for buyers next year, according to the Chicago Magazine report.
The smaller number of condos was a conscious decision to make One Bennett Park a little more exclusive, according to the Chicago Magazine report.
Named for a Park
The development takes its name from the adjacent park. The public, 1.7-acre Bennett Park underwent a redesign as a part of the project. "We collaborated with Michael Van Valkenburgh, who redesigned the park as a new focal point for the neighborhood," Daniel Lobitz, a partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, told Architectural Digest. Landscape architect Van Valkenburgh has had a hand in a number of other notable Chicago projects, including The 606 and Maggie Daley Park.
The park will feature gardens, paths, two dog runs, and a shaded grove, according to the One Bennett Park website.
The Amenities
One Bennett Park promises its future residents plenty of luxury amenities. “This building has a spectacular amenities suite—nowhere else really can you find all these elements in Chicago,” Robert A.M. Stern says on the project’s website.
Amenities include valet parking services and a covered motor court, a full-service spa and salon, a fitness center, a Pilates studio, an indoor lap pool, and a sun terrace. The terrace will also have a pool as well as multiple seating areas.
In Addition, the luxury building will offer a private residents’ club and roof deck. Plus, residents with children can take advantage of the children’s playground and playroom, as well as a room for adolescents.
