Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Los Angeles for 2017
You don’t have to be in Germany to participate in Oktoberfest. It ends up that there are plenty of celebrations to take in all across Los Angeles and Orange County.
The list below spells out where to go if you’d like to drink beers without the hours-long flight to Munich. Enjoy a few pints and grab a pretzel at any of these spots through the end of October. Prost!
Alpine Village Oktoberfest
September 8 - October 28
Torrance’s Alpine Village has been hosting Oktoberfest since 1968, and it’s only picked up steam since then. The Bavarian-themed village is always full of Oktoberfest-style food and drink, but now offers music, dancing, and a festival atmosphere. Head over on Fridays, Saturdays, or even bring the kids on Sundays.
Oktoberfest Huntington Beach
September 10 - October 29
Old World in Huntington Beach will bring a five-day-a-week event for its 40th anniversary. Along with the expected Bavarian food and drink, there are several unique aspects to take in as well, including a parade, Sunday Kinderfest, and of course, the much-anticipated Dachshund races.
Oktoberfest at the Phoenix Club
September 22 - October 29
The outdoor Anaheim festival spot includes drinking and eating contests, live bands, and polka lessons for the bravest attendees. Kids have options for horse rides and bounce houses. The event also includes a rifle contest (not mixed with the beer, of course).
Oktoberfest at Wurstkuche
September 30 - October 15
Venice’s favorite sausage spot hosts Oktoberfest events on Saturdays and Sundays for the next three weekends. Imbibe with steins of their (mostly) German beers, exotic sausage selections, and take in some yodeling as well. Wurstkuche encourages you to dress in your Oktoberfest best, so why not go all in?
Oktoberfest at Fairplex
October 6-21
Out in Pomona , you’ll get the expected food and beer experience, plus plenty of music at the Fairplex. Visitors on Friday and Saturday nights will enjoy the stylings of German “Oom-Pah” band the Rheinlanders, plus a live DJ and various tribute acts.
Montrose Oktoberfest
October 7
Montrose’s annual Oktoberfest doubles as a fall festival for the community, including German beer and food. It’s also a community carnival for families, holding human and dog costume contests and a full day of live music to accompany the local vendors and beer selections.
King Harbor Brewing Oktoberfest
October 7
Rather than a traditional Oktoberfest, King Harbor embraces more of a carnival atmosphere. Teams will compete at the Redondo Beach brewery in a variety of drinking games, all featuring its German lager.
Long Beach Oktoberfest
October 14
Grab a mug and get to tasting. Over at the Pike in Long Beach, you’ll get access to a small-scale event that features fall-styled beers, a DJ, and food. Best of all, proceeds go toward Long Beach Marine Institute and Make-a-Wish.
Oktoberfest in Downtown LA
October 21-22
If you’re not venturing to the South Bay, Downtown LA has its own celebration, complete with tiered beer flights, food, and VIP access. Pershing Square plays host to the event, which also includes local bands and introduces some more traditional LA fare to the typical Bavarian menu, too.
