The Cactus League in Arizona hosts 14 major league baseball teams from late February through late March in the greater Phoenix area. Baseball fans and sun lovers alike flock to the stadiums that are surrounded by dynamic neighborhoods to watch the players close-up and enjoy the games. Here are the top locations to catch your favorite team.

Scottsdale

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale hosts the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. The San Francisco Giants train at Scottsdale Stadium.

Scottsdale Stadium lies in the southern portion of Scottsdale, not far from the Old Town area and Civic Plaza. Neighborhoods in this area are more historic and are surrounded by lush, mature landscaping. If you can, catch the Giants play the San Diego Padres on March 17th.

Salt River Fields is part of the Talking Stick Resort, located on the Salt River-Maricopa Pima Indian Community that borders Mesa, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. The Diamondbacks play the 2016 World Series winner, the Chicago Cubs, on March 23rd.

Mesa

Fans flock to Sloan Park at Mesa Riverview to watch the Chicago Cubs train. Mesa Riverview is a recreation, shopping, and entertainment hub. Centrally located on the 202 freeway, all other points in Metro Phoenix are easy to get to. Established neighborhoods around Mesa Riverview reflect the area’s eclectic social and dynamic history.

Glendale

The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers train at Camelback Ranch in western Glendale, just off the 101 Freeway and Camelback Road. Once farmland, the area is now primarily newer residential master-planned communities, retail, and commercial facilities. The Cubs play the White Sox on March 17th in Glendale and visiting Chicagoans should make this a lively game to watch.

Goodyear

Baseball lovers from Ohio have to only travel to Goodyear Stadium to see the Cincinnati Reds play the Cleveland Indians. The stadium lies just north of Estrella Mountain Ranch, an upscale master-planned community that is nestled into the Estrella Mountains.

Surprise

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers practice their games at Surprise Stadium in the northwest corner of metro Phoenix. Once dominated by active adult communities, the town of Surprise grew into one of the state’s larger cities.

Peoria

The Peoria Sports Complex, a multi-purpose, 145-acre site at 83rd Avenue south of Bell Road, hosts the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres. There’s no lack of food, dining, shopping, and lodging close to Arrowhead Ranch, a large master-planned community just to the east.

Phoenix

The Milwaukee Brewers spend spring training at Maryvale Stadium on 51st Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix. Between games, there are plenty of places to shop, eat and stay. Tourists loving exploring some of the older neighborhoods in the Valley and in Arizona’s largest city.

Tempe

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim practice at Tempe Diablo Stadium located in the heart of the Phoenix metro area. Easy to reach, the stadium is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and shopping suitable for any budget. The presence of Arizona State University a few miles north gives this area its dynamic characteristics and contains several architecturally diverse neighborhoods.
