Which LA neighborhoods were hot for homebuyers in spring 2017?
The MLS recently released its Q2 2017 market climate map, showing which Los Angeles neighborhoods showed the most growth in single family home sales from April through June of this year. As the MLS points out, 39 of the 51 areas it tracked saw sales volume growth compared to the same time last year. Additionally, 19 areas saw sales growth of 19 percent or higher.
Q2’s Top LA Neighborhoods:
- Monterey Hills (up 279 percent)
- Playa Vista (up 223 percent)
- Atwater Village (up 134 percent)
- Beverly Hills Post Office (up 128 percent)
- Cheviot Hills/Rancho Park (up 123 percent)
Notably, the study does omit quite a few neighborhoods in LA County, including much of the South Bay, Pasadena, and Long Beach (among others).
The data above doesn’t necessarily indicate which neighborhoods sold the most homes in the time period, either, just which ones increased the most. Park Hills Heights and “Metropolitan South” (portions of South LA) each sold 182 units in the timeframe, leading the way. Three other areas (Silver Lake - Echo Park, “Metropolitan Southwest,” and Sunset Strip - Hollywood Hills West) also sold more than 100 homes in Q2 of this year.
Just 12 of the 51 areas experienced a decline in home sales compared to Q2 2016. The largest drops belonged to El Sereno and Lincoln Heights (each down 32 percent), Topanga (down 31 percent), Eagle Rock (down 21 percent), and Culver City (down 20 percent).
