The uptown San Diego neighborhood of Bankers Hill gets its name from an early reputation as a place for the affluent to call home. Over the years, it’s balanced that with an influx of quality restaurants, cafes, and bars while converting many of the classic residences into bed and breakfasts and offices. That means there’s an opportunity to revive the region’s residential inventory, and developer Zephyr is taking full advantage in the form of their 14-story luxury residential building The Park, Bankers Hill.

Zephyr recently announced via press release that townhomes within the mixed-use tower, which includes 60 “ultra-luxurious condos,” are already half-sold. Not bad for a place where residences start at the asking price of $1.2 million. Those sold numbers also include the southwest facing penthouse, which according to them, has gone under contract in the highest priced sale in the community’s history ($5.9 million).

Residences at The Park, Bankers Hill average around 2,374 square feet, plus around 468 square feet of outdoor living space. Homes include open floorplans, floor to ceiling glass walls, recessed lighting, gourmet kitchens featuring Miele appliances and Boffi cabinetry, and large soaking tubs, just to name a few features.

Located directly across from Balboa Park, The Park, Bankers Hill also offers residents access to common area amenities that include a fitness center, rim-flow pool and spa, private wine storage, and clubroom and terrace with fire pits. Residents also get exclusive access to two guest suites for visiting family and friends. Down below, two street-level retail spaces are also part of the development.

“When we started this project, we set out to create an enduring legacy that would complement the historical and timeless nature of Bankers Hill,” Zephyr CEO Brad Termini tells Neighborhoods.com. “While modern, the building is also classic in its design. We took great care to design a building that engages with the surrounding city and cultural offerings offered by Balboa Park, while also being quiet and private.”

According to The Park, Bankers Hill Sales Manager Claudia Barbour, the walkability of the neighborhood and proximity to a large park is attracting interest from across the country. “Interest from New York City buyers is strong because they like its homage to Central Park-esque living.”

The Park, Bankers Hill is currently scheduled to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Along with The Park, Bankers Hill, Zephyr is also bringing that same balance of luxury and integration to Dana Point, where their South Cove mixed-use development will feature a community park with public art and 168 luxury residences. They’re also working on a world-class resort with resort villas set on the bluffs above North Beach in Del Mar.
