Like much of the surrounding areas, the housing options in Boystown largely consist of apartments. There are many newer condominiums and gut rehabs for those looking for a modern home, but there are also more affordable places that encourage first-time homebuyers to move into the neighborhood. While there are no bad locations in this relatively small area, Boystown residents on the north end of the neighborhood are closer to Jewel-Osco and Whole Foods.
A pocket of the larger Lakeview neighborhood, Boystown is rich in food and restaurant options throughout. Boystown is a lively neighborhood that’s home to a celebrated LGBT community. As a result of the prosperous nightlife scene, many of the residents are young adults attending college or just kicking off their careers. However, you will still find families in the neighborhood as it's in a very attractive area of the city with great amenities.
Between bars, pubs, and nightclubs, there's practically something for everyone in Boystown on a Friday night. Take a walk up Halsted Avenue on a weekend evening and you'll find the street packed with people. Wrigleyville is also a short walk away for the neighborhood’s sports fans. Despite its active nightlife, Boystown still has a lot to offer for those looking for a quiet night, including art galleries and improv theaters.
You'll find there's just as much to do in the morning as there was the night before in Boystown. There's a host of breakfast and brunch spots in the area, especially on Halsted, where a Sunday spent shopping is also easily achieved. Boystown is very close to Lake Michigan, so it's easy to spend a Sunday biking the lakefront trail or relaxing on the beaches and green spaces.
