Around Downtown Tucson
Spend an afternoon at the Tucson Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, or Children's Museum Tucson, where visitors can see a stunning collection of all the area's talent. Etherton Galley boasts a highly acclaimed contemporary collection of paintings, photography, and mixed-media work by local artists. Downtown also offers numerous open-air markets and bazaars on a weekly basis, where you can shop and listen to live music and see local entertainers.
Enjoy a night out at one of the many eateries before taking in a performance at the Fox Tucson Theater or a sporting event at the University of Arizona. There is also an active and thriving music and arts community offering stage and street performances year-round. Visit one of the several galleries along 6th Street. For a night on the town, Broadway Boulevard and Congress Street have an array of cocktail bars, brewpubs, and dance clubs.
You will find the trio of the Rincon, Catalina, and Tucson mountain ranges, offering a breathtaking and stunning sight. The Santa Catalina's Mount Lemmon is a popular hiking and destination for locals and visitors alike. Downtown Tucson is a revolving door of professionals getting to and from work and the neighborhood's residents who seek a more urban experience. Since Downtown is centrally located to all that the area has to offer for recreation, it's a great place for hikers, bicyclists, equestrians, and golfers.
Expect everything from elegant fine dining to street fare, from Mexican to American, Italian and French dishes as well as great bars and cafes. Tucson is home to some of the best chefs at top-rated resorts and restaurants in the world, as well as some wonderful local wineries that are fast gaining international reputation and acclaim, including Café Posa Cosa. For more casual fare, Thunder Canyon Brewery on Broadway and Iguana Café on Congress offer delightful and simple pub fare and craft beers. There are also numerous cafés and coffee bars to sample and enjoy.
Tucson is a large, sprawling city with an urban center and several major suburbs that sit in and around the cradles and foothills of three major mountain ranges. Downtown Tucson proper is relatively small by comparison, and mostly comprised of commercial and municipal properties, but there are some fantastic lofts, condos, and homes available in the area. Julian Drew Block, in the heart of downtown, has some beautiful lofts but comes with the requisite noise and bustle of downtown living. Although there are several condominium options in Downtown, there are a few single-family homes in the outskirts of the neighborhood.
