Around East Cesar Chavez
The neighborhood is bound by the Colorado River to the south, I-35 to the west, the main thoroughfare of 7th Street to the north, and the north-south axis of Pleasant Valley Road to the east. There are plentiful and roomy new condominiums springing up on the west side and all down I-35, but beautiful, historic East Austin homes still line the streets on Holly and Haskell. The neighborhood tends to be noisy and boisterous on the north side and quiet and family oriented on the south side.
This neighborhood's location along Lady Bird Lake, hugging the historic downtown area, gives residents multiple fine dining options within walking distance. Not feeling too fancy? Well, you're in luck, because part of what makes Austin famous are the ubiquitous food trucks. For reasonable prices, you can get that cultural experience without having to dress up, whether you're on the way to work or a show.
East Cesar Chavez is popular with the hip crowd, but you will see all kinds of people from all walks of life. In this neighborhood, like the rest of Austin, you will see young professionals, parents jogging with strollers, famous aging rock musicians and actors, as well as some students.
