Around Edgebrook

Edgebrook mostly consists of single-family homes. Renting is a very popular option for those that don't want to commit, but don't be surprised if you find it hard to leave. Townhouses and condominiums are practically non-existent in Edgebrook, another reason for a population of largely families.

Edgebrook is home to various upscale dining options, with the two main destinations for food located on stretches of Touhy and Devon Avenues. Here you'll find hip, stylish sit-down restaurants flaunting food from all different continents, particularly specializing in Thai cuisine. There are more comforting options like burgers and fries as well. However, due to the neighborhood's small size, grocery shopping is generally done in other areas.

Due to its highly rated school system as well as being surrounded by other well-off suburbs, Edgebrook has a very affluent and child-oriented population. The neighborhood consists of mostly families and older couples or recent retirees enjoying the golf courses and residential yet urban lifestyle.

Since Edgebrook is more of a bedroom community than anything else, most nightlife attractions are located outside of the neighborhood. Fortunately Edgebrook is surrounded by many neighborhoods and suburbs with a good selection of bars, movie theaters and concert halls. Easy access to the Kennedy and Edens expressways also makes travel to these areas very convenient.

Edgebrook is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts due to its close proximity to two forests preserves. Both areas offer excellent walking and biking trails for both the very active and the casual outdoors enthusiast. If you're looking to stay indoors on your weekend, the local branch of the Chicago Public Library is an excellent option as well as a quiet stop at a local cafe or coffee shop.

We have lived here since 1995. Raised 2 children and now they come with the grandchildren for our block party and the Throwback Festival every year.
