Around Elysian Park
If your Friday was spent out at one of the local watering holes, then Sunday is your chance to catch the Dodgers during the day. Having a picnic or BBQ at Elysian Park before the Dodgers take the field is a local favorite - as is grabbing a few hot dogs at the stadium for lunch. Go for a walk through Elysian Park before wrapping up the day with a trip to Chinatown to walk through its many stalls and stores.
There is no better way to spend a Friday night in Elysian Park than by heading to Dodger Stadium for a few innings. Fans and visitors alike will flock to Chavez Ravine for a chance to catch a game and grab a few drinks in the process. If sports aren't your thing, there are all kinds of bars along the famed Sunset Boulevard.
Dodger Stadium is only minutes away, so expect to see plenty of crowds whenever the "Boys in Blue" take the field. Elysian Park's central location also means that you are going to see Angelenos from all walks of life. The eponymous park has a baseball diamond, miles of walking trails, and a garden.
You'd be hard-pressed to find better Mexican food in all of Los Angeles. And, with Chinatown visible from the hills of Elysian Park, it's only a short walk to grab some of the county's best Chinese food. For those who are looking to experience meals prepared by some of the country's best up-and-coming young chefs, nearby Silver Lake is always hosting new culinary pop-ups, gourmet gastropubs, and low-key pubs serving up burgers and beers.
Elysian Park is a low-density community and many of the residential structures are mid-sized condominium complexes combined with the occasional single family home. Much of Elysian Park is the actual municipal park itself, which is the city's oldest park. Many of these residences can be found along Stadium Way, Blake Avenue, and nearby Baxter Street. The neighborhood's most famous tenant, the Los Angeles Dodgers, is right in the center of the neighborhood so those who are no fans of traffic and noise should avoid living near the 1988 World Series champions.
