Life in Lakewood Ranch revolves around Main Street, which features boutique shops, diverse restaurants, a movie theater, and cafes, all in an open-air environment. A centrally located pavilion holds farmers' markets and concerts throughout the year, making it the central location for events. Lakewood Ranch has three golf courses for a combined 54 holes. The community's social events take place in The Club, a 44,000 square-foot clubhouse where there is a full-service restaurant and a grand ballroom. Lakewood Ranch also has the 11,400 square-foot Athletic Center with two outdoor pools. Although there are several schools in the area, Lakewood Ranch has some of the best in the state. There are 15 pre-schools, several public and private schools, and even some institutions for higher learning.
