I’d rate my experience at South Fork a 10/10. I would give anything to go back there! They truly know how to make your life better, more loved, and smarter. The people at South Fork are the best people you will ever meet. South Fork is my second home. The people, and the atmosphere are truly amazing.

I had an amazing experience at South Fork. The school offers countless opportunities to get involved if you have the desire too. I was in IB (International Baccalaureate), JROTC, Varsity Soccer and Lacrosse, Robotics, and numerous other clubs, because they were made so available to students. The only only truth about the South Fork's stereotype is that it absolutely is in the middle of nowhere - so transportation is a necessity (carpool/car) - especially for after school activities when it is only the activity bus. Compared to the other schools in the county, South Fork seems to have the most inviting social scene, but it still is high school, so it is important to take initiative in making friends, joining clubs, and engaging in classes. It is also worth noting that South Fork has the only I.B. program in the district and it is entirely worth doing to get the most prepared for college. It is an international program that automatically gets you full "bright futures" (full tuition to any Florida public school + a book stipend) and universities outside of FL and even the US love to see it on applications. Anyway, I had an amazing experience and thought I would share my notes on South Fork to try and make a tough decision a little easier :)

Absolutely terrible. As a student from Georgia I am disgusted with how students treat one another, and how teachers deal with this issue. Additionally I had wanted to dual enroll (as I had done in GA, it is also important to note that I am a straight A student), and they said I needed to take the PERT entrance exam (even though I had already taken the SAT which was more than enough to be accepted according to the IRSC webpage), as well as take additional outside classes on my own time because "Georgia education is not up to par with Florida education". Despite getting sought-after scores, I was still treated as a low class illiterate. After finally being accepted (which IRSC was very pleased to have me), I was told I only had 3.5 classes instead of 4. I am now required to attend South Fork for my senior year despite clearly telling them I was dual enrolling full time. They then tried to give me four additional classes at South Fork while still attending my college courses. That would result in 8 courses, which would not fit into my schedule, as I also work full time as an accountant. After trying to reason with my counselor and explain my situation, I was immediately dismissed and told "That's life". Words cannot explain my discontent for the school, as well as the staff involved. It is also important to note that these are issues that pertain to me, however there are many other issues I have not listed to affect most students such as rampant racism, sexism, as well as structural integrity of the school (for proof look at the TC Palm's article on the weight lifting room/ locker rooms). Thank you for reading, I hope South Fork finds this and tries to fix their school
